Oratorio Supertitles

Oratorio supertitles have not always been the standard. They are still not the standard in many orchestras around the world. The outdated approach of printing large swaths of text and translations into a printed program is unfortunately still the way many orchestras provide translations to their audience.

Oratorio supertitles solves multiple problems including:

  • The burdensome cost of getting the translation and printing it all
  • The inability of patrons to read the text once the house lights go down
  • If patrons are not following the program every moment, they can get lost
  • The obnoxious sound of hundreds of people turning pages disrupting the music

Oratorio supertitles

When patrons understand what is being sung in real time, they are much more invested in the performance. When they’re invested in the performance, they’re more likely to invest in your organization. Don’t do them the disservice of making them squint in the dark at a printed program in order to know what’s going on. Real-time oratorio translations projected above the stage (or as subtitles on your video!) make all the difference in their experience.
